JEDDAH: The Jeddah-based Kashmir Committee has expressed disappointment over the cancellation of a scheduled meeting between the National Security Advisers (NSAs) of Pakistan and India.

In a resolution adopted at a meeting at the Pakistani consul general’s residence, the committee condemned the condition by the Indian government to cancel the invitation extended by High Commissioner of Pakistan, New Dehli, to the Kashmiri Hurriyat leadership to a reception on

Aug. 23.

“The invitation to Hurriyat leaders was in line with the practice and tradition of the past many years,” it said.

In its resolution, the committee “reaffirmed fundamental principles and objectives of the United Nations Charter that clearly recognize inalienable right of self determination of the Kashmiri people.”

The committee also condemned the continued violations of Line of Control and Working Boundary by the Indian forces which has resulted in loss of innocent lives.

It appreciated Pakistan’s clear position on not accepting any conditions for NSA talks in order to engage in sincere and serious dialogue with India to resolve all outstanding issues, including Kashmir.

Emphasizing the importance of engaging people of Jammu & Kashmir in the dialogue process, the committee appealed to the international community to take serious note of the Indian “stubborn position on setting conditions for dialogue.”

The committee urged the international community, particularly Muslims, as well as media to highlight “atrocities of the Indian occupied forces” and express solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

The committee commended Pakistan for its “unconditional political, moral and diplomatic support for the Kashmiri struggle.”
