RIYADH: The Saudi pavilion at the recently concluded 26th Abu Dhabi International Book Fair marked the 50th anniversary of King Abdul Aziz University (KAU).
Cultural Affairs Director Dr. Mohammed Al-Masoudi graced the occasion that showcased achievements of the Jeddah-based KAU as well as the Kingdom, including the indefatigable efforts and challenges faced in the establishment of the university.
Dr. Al-Masoudi said the late King Faisal extended all the necessary support for and endorsement of the project as well as its evolution into a public university years later.
It became a center of civilization and learning in the different fields such as science, until it opened its doors to female students and opened a student section.
He added that the university had grown steadily over the years in the number of enrolment as well as in prestige in academic circles in and outside the Kingdom.
He said that this became possible under the able leadership of Director-designate Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Youbi during the least ten years.
He said that the KAU had become a veritable beacon of knowledge to illuminate a path for its present and future generations of graduates.

In their respective fields, could bear this out,” he said.
He added that the alumni could be proud of having been among its graduates because of the prestige that the university enjoys in academic circles in the Kingdom as well as abroad.
“Its reputation as a center of learning has spread far and wide and it continues to attract students of no mean abilities to specialize in various disciplines,” he said.
