CAIRO: A kidnapped Saudi businessman has been freed with the help of Egyptian security forces after a nine-day ordeal, the Saudi ambassador to Cairo said.
Hassan Ali Ahmed Al-Sanad, 70, was kidnapped in Egypt by masked assailants on April 26 on the Cairo-Ismailia Desert Road.
Preliminary reports described Al-Sanad as an investor working in Egypt who owns farms and juice companies. He was in Cairo to take part in the meetings of his company’s board of directors.
He was bundled into a car and whisked away by the kidnappers while on his way to Cairo International Airport.
Major General Ali Azzazi, security director of Ismailia, had also told the media that investigators had found the businessman’s damaged car with its doors left open.
