Informed sources said Saturday that King Abdullah Bridge on the Haramain road will be demolished within 60 days to make way for the Al-Haramain Railway project.

The bridge will be rebuilt at a new height of 7.5 meters to allow the passage of the train.

The sources said that about 50 percent of the project has already been completed, with the building of three bridges: the Pilgrims’ Bridge, the Airbase Bridge and Briman. The Al-Tahliyah Bridge will be completed in six months.

Traffic detours are currently being finalized.




The Al-Nuzha Bridge will also be demolished to be reconstructed later, according to sources.

Another bridge, 1,500 meters long, is being constructed in Makkah to serve as a passage for the train coming from Jeddah.
