RIYADH: The Saudi private sector has welcomed the decision of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman to include 2,628 Saudi students (male and female), who were studying in the United States at their own expense, in the country’s scholarship program.

According to the Council of Saudi Chambers (CSC), the decision is in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 to upgrade youth capabilities to meet the country’s long-term goals.

“On behalf of all the business sectors in the Kingdom I am delighted to express our deepest thanks and appreciation to King Salman for such special care that reflects vast support for them to continue their academic career,” said Abdul Rahman Al-Zamil, CSC chief. He said such a gesture reflects the great importance accorded to the citizens by the leadership that touches their needs and their quest to overcome various obstacles.

“King Salman instructs officials in various responsible positions to address the interests of citizens, and monitor their conditions to achieve comprehensive development that will serve the homeland and its citizens’ interests.”

He referred to the synchronization of the decision with the visit of Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to the US as it coincides with the Vision 2030 that seeks nation building and development by arming students with science and knowledge and refining their abilities.

“The program has played an important role in the process of economic development through various leadership posts in the service of the nation. They represent the nation as ambassadors to various countries of the world in presenting a positive image of the Kingdom, religious and ethical values of Saudi citizens and their role in strengthening relations with peoples and cultures,” said Al-Zamil.
