I would like to congratulate the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques His Royal Highness King Salman bin Abdulaziz and all the people of Saudi Arabia on the occasion of their national day. Canada and Saudi Arabia share many common interests as commercial partners and allies in the fight against terrorism, and are both contributors to global energy security.

We are also like-minded actors on many regional issues and in international fora such as the G-20. Saudi Arabia’s National Day will also be cause for celebration in Canada among the 16,000 young Saudi men and women studying in our world-class educational institutions. We join in the celebration and we wish God’s blessing upon Saudi Arabia and its people.
