RIYADH: The Saudi government is assisting 2,283 families consisting of 8,000 people overseas, according to the Awasser Foundation for the Welfare of Saudi Families Abroad.
In a statement recently, Tawfiq Al-Suwailem, chairman of the body, said that Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman was personally monitoring the support for these Saudis.
Al-Suwailem said that the interior and foreign ministries were involved in the program, which includes providing shelter and other support. The organization sends representatives abroad to work with charities providing care for these Saudis.
There continues to be attempts to make contact with members of some families affected by the wars in Yemen and Syria, to help them return to the Kingdom, he said.
