Hamad Al-Sheikh, deputy minister of education received on Wednesday the award for the best government service via mobile appliances in the education sector in the Arab world.

The Saudi application (App) named "Ministry of Education" scooped the "Best m-Government Service Award — Education" for Arab countries.

The award in its second session now was launched by the UAE government and involved the participation of local, Arab and international participants in eight fields.

Seventy-six participants qualified for the finals out of the original 411 participants who applied for the award on the national, Arab and international levels, in addition to university students.

The final results of the award were announced during the 3rd Government Summit 2015 held from Feb. 9 to 11 under the auspices of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, vice president and prime minister of the UAE and ruler of Dubai, under the theme ‘Shaping Future Governments.”

Saudi Arabia was in the lead among Arab countries with 30 participants followed by Oman (14), Qatar (12), Bahrain (11), Kuwait (6), and two participants each from Jordan, Lebanon and Morocco. Sudan had only one participant.

On the international level there were 150 participants of which the European Union countries accounted for 30 percent and the US 22 percent. The remaining participants came from South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, Russia and others.

The eight sectors involved 77 participants from the economic and commerce sector, followed by 63 from the social affairs sector, 62 from security and safety, 48 from transport and infrastructure, 54 from health, 44 from education and 36 from tourism and environment.
