A delegation from Saudi Arabia is due to participate in the 28th Human Rights Council in Geneva from March 2 to March 27, headed by Dr. Bandar bin Mohammed Al-Aiban, president of the Saudi Human Rights Commission.

The first three days will include high-level ministerial sessions to discuss a number of issues including climate change, children’s rights, racial discrimination, the right to food, and the rights of persons with disabilities.

Sessions will also be held to discuss human rights in specific countries, particularly with regard to the situation in Syria and the need for the international commission to investigate and to speed up the prosecution of those responsible for rights violations in Syria. The situation in Iraq in light of the violations committed by the terrorist organisation ISIL, will also be discussed among the group.

Other sessions will cover the situation in the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem, the occupied Golan Heights, and the Israeli settlements that are inconsistent with the provisions of international law.

The schedule also includes vital discussions on the human rights situation in Libya and Sudan.
