DAMMAM: The Saudi Arabian Boy Scouts Association (SABSA) is participating in the 23rd World Scout Jamboree with the slogan “A Spirit of Unity,” which starts July 28 and runs until August 8 in Kirara-hama, Japan. A total of 32,000 scouts from 144 national scouting associations around the world are expected to take part.

Saleh Al-Harbi, the Saudi delegation leader, said: “The Saudi team includes more than 120 scouts and guides who will have a chance to live and work in a multicultural environment to discover others’ cultures.”

He said that SABSA prepared a group of volunteers to participate in the global support team, which will serve in 14 service managements to ensure the success of the camp, including human resources, hospitality, celebrations, safety and transportation.

The general program includes global and religious villages, culture, civilization, science, leisure, community, nature, water and peace programs, along with the cultural day, and the Jamboree friendship award, Al-Harbi said. “SABSA will participate in the Jamboree with five workshops, including Arabic language and the Arab tent, in addition to peace, dialogue and the Two Holy Mosques paintings.”

SABSA will participate with the aim of representing Arab and Islamic culture in an honorable way, Al-Harbi said.

Saudi scouts returned to Japan after 45 years, when they participated in the 13th World Scout Jamboree hosted by Japan in 1971, with the participation of 23,753 Scouts, representing 87 national scouting associations.
