Saudi Arabia on Monday reiterated its full support for Egypt to fight terrorism during talks held between Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah and interim Egyptian President Adly Mansour.

The two leaders discussed major regional and international issues during the meeting.

“We will support Egypt against terrorism, delusion and sedition and those who try to undermine its security,” the Saudi Press Agency quoted the king telling the Egyptian president during a meeting at his palace.

Mansour, who is on his first foreign visit after taking over the Egyptian presidency, thanked King Abdullah for his support to the new Cairo government following the ousting of former President Muhammad Mursi.

He also thanked the Saudi government for its economic assistance to help Egypt overcome its present financial crisis, which was caused by the recent political turmoil in the country.

Saudi Arabia approved $5 billion in aid to Egypt last July, while the UAE offered $3 billion in desperately needed support for the economy after a popular uprising ousted the former president.

Saudi funds comprise a $2 billion central bank deposit, $2 billion in energy products, and $1 billion in cash, Saudi Finance Minister Ibrahim Al-Assaf said.
