A delegation from King Saud University (KSU) recently visited prominent South Korean universities and institutions of higher learning to discuss possible areas of cooperation, including scientific research.

“The visit entailed discussions regarding cooperation in the field of scientific and academic relations between King Saud University and prominent Korean academic and scientific institutions,” a public relations official at KSU said Friday.

The delegation led by KSU Rector Badran Al-Omar visited the National University of Seoul and Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). During the visit, Al-Omar discussed several possible areas of cooperation including scientific field research and the development of graduate scholarship programs.

The two sides discussed ways and means to promote exchange programs for faculty members and students between the academic institutions, the official added.

The delegation also visited Gachon University, which conferred an honorary doctorate on Al-Omar and invited him to accept the honoris causa for his services and achievements.

The media department at KSU said that Gachon University awarded Al-Omar an honorary doctorate in public administration for his achievements in the field of health and his continued efforts toward achieving the goals set by the university.

KSU has established strategic alliances and collaborative relationships with leading universities around the world under the leadership of Al-Omar.

While receiving the doctorate, the KSU rector expressed his appreciation to Gachon University for bestowing upon him an honorary doctorate degree.
