RIYADH: Labor Minister Mufrej Al-Haqabani inaugurated the Charity Association for the Blind in the presence of businessmen, government officials, journalists and other guests.

Al-Haqabani, who sponsored the event, lauded the formation of the association, saying it will play an important role in making life easier, convenient and enjoyable for the blind.

Dr. Nasser bin Ali Al-Mousa, Shoura Council member, said an endowment of SR10 million will be raised in this regard and that cooperation of everybody was necessary.

The amount will be used in the construction of two buildings for the association so that it could do its work and implement projects to benefit the blind.

He said that raising the amount won’t be easy, but expressed hope that it would be possible through the collective efforts of individuals, groups and government organizations.

He also expressed his thanks for the support of the Saudi leadership, headed by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman.

“We at the association express our gratitude to King Salman, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif and Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for helping on behalf of the blind,” he said.

There were many others who had extended support for the formation of the association and who expressed support so that it could implement and undertake various projects for the blind, he said.

“They include businessmen and other wealthy people. However, we welcome others who are willing to to help the association give cheer and hope to the blind,” he said.

“The blind may not be able to reciprocate their benefactors but they will gain in return in terms of happiness and self-fulfilment by doing something good for the less-fortunate,” he added.
