JEDDAH: The Ministry of Labor has called for public comment on draft legislation overseeing the employment of people with disabilities. The ministry recently posted the legislation on its website to seek comment from businesspeople and other stakeholders, so that their views can be incorporated in the final draft, a local publication reported recently.

In a press statement, the ministry said it wants to ensure that there is widespread consultation on the law, which will encourage the private sector to employ people with disabilities who are able to work.

The ministry said that the government will provide employers with incentives to ensure they create jobs for people with disabilities. The draft law is open for public comment for the next 30 days on the website qarar.ma3an.gov.sa.

The ministry has launched several initiatives over the past few years to improve governance and services, particularly through the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation, the General Organization for Social Insurance and the Human Resources Development Fund.
