A senior Islamic scholar has suggested that the well in which six-year-old Lama Al-Rouqi fell and died two weeks ago can be considered her grave.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Suleiman bin Manie, a member of the Council of Senior Scholars and adviser to the Royal Court, made this remark as Civil Defense personnel continued their efforts to retrieve Lama's body on Saturday.

Col. Mamdouh Al-Anazi, spokesman for Tabuk’s Civil Defense, said they would remove sand from the well to pave the way for the Saudi Aramco equipment.

Al-Anazi said he hopes to pull the body out of the well as soon as possible.

Civil Defense is working around the clock, with 91 machines and 200 men, to complete the task.

Open wells threaten the lives of children who don’t realize the dangers associated with them.

Mohammad Saeed from the village of Zoor Wadaha said that there is an old well next to his house that poses a danger to the residents, especially children who play nearby. He said residents notified Civil Defense forces but no action was taken.

Nasir Sharhoof Al-Abbas, a 70-year-old disabled elderly man, said he is afraid his car might fall in the well which is still open. He said the well has become a rubbish dump.
