Madinah Gov. Prince Faisal bin Salman, chairman of the Takaful Charity Association for Orphans, will sponsor the Third Forum for Orphan Care in the city on Wednesday.

The two-day event will include debates and discussions about issues and challenges affecting orphans in the Kingdom. More than 50 specialized associations, 200 experts and 22 speakers from seven countries will attend the event.

Experts are expected to present working papers on developing the sector over the next 10 years. The first session, chaired by Mansour Al-Nozha, is entitled “Identifying the Reality of Orphan Care in the Kingdom.” This session will include several papers on financial resources, sustainable development of orphan associations, social reintegration mechanisms, performance indicators, and institutional management of related organizations.

Aziz Abeed will present the Swedish experience on monitoring, evaluation and the formulation of legislation for Arab and Muslim orphans, while Yaser bin Abdulfattah Qasas will provide his insight on planning of programs and initiatives for charity associations in the Kingdom.

Other objectives of the forum include the establishment of a future strategic plan, and drawing on the experiences of various professions and countries. Experts in the field will offer their perspectives on the development of organizational excellence and voluntary efforts to improve the quality of care in the Kingdom.

Abdulmohsen bin Moaidh Al-Harbi, secretary-general of the Takaful association, said the idea of an annual forum arose from a need to improve and develop the sector.

He said three initiatives would be announced during the forum. They are setting up a coordination council for orphan care associations in the Kingdom, establishing a code of ethics for employees, and developing a strategic vision for improving the sector by 2025.

He thanked the board of the organization and Prince Faisal for their support and concern for orphans in the country.
