Director General of Education in Madinah, Nasser bin Abdullah Abdulkarim inspected a number of schools in the region recently where he was briefed on the initial study schedule for students at the beginning of the new academic year 2014/2015. He also checked out the schools’ readiness to receive students and made sure of the students’ attendance in their first days of study.

The inspection tour involved checking the schools’ facilities such as the prayer rooms, classrooms, laboratories, the educational resource rooms, the schools’ courtyards, gymnasiums, cafeterias and toilets.

During his tour Abdulkarim met the principals and teachers and urged them to be serious about their teaching from the first day of study.

He also stressed on the importance of creating an attractive educational environment for students as well as providing all the necessary equipments and tools for the schools and the educational process. He emphasized during the visit that the school management should notify the education department of their requirements.

The director general also met the students and encouraged them to be more serious and persistent in their studies, pointing out to them the importance of adhering to Islamic beliefs and values that demand obedience to parents and respect for teachers.

Abdulkarim had earlier inspected the schools’ bookstores and met the headmasters and the staff and listened to their needs. He also supervised the arrangements to deliver the desks, furniture and text books to the schools’ staff.

He explained that all the schools in the region are ready to receive students, noting that the text books were delivered in advance and that students got their text books on the first day of school.

He said absenteeism rates were minimal indicating a robust start to the beginning of the academic year.

As for first graders, Abdulkarim said all the elementary schools in the region have prepared the schedule of the first week of study which will be under the supervision and follow up of the education department in the region, and implemented with the cooperation of the parents who will be present to help their children adapt to the school environment.

The general director of education also applauded the educational steps taken by some schools upon receiving students. Such schools have prepared programs to acquaint new students with the school and its teachers.

The Assistant Director General for Girls’ Education Affairs also made a number of inspection tours of some schools in the region.
