JEDDAH: As part of the strategic work of the General Authority of Endowments, a three-day Islamic conference is planned in Makkah from Oct. 18 to 20 under the theme "Endowments for Unstoppable Rewards."
A number of endowment ministers from various Islamic countries are expected to attend the diverse sessions of the conference which are being chaired by highly esteemed speakers in the Islamic world. The conference will serve as a platform to discuss the role of endowments in the Islamic world, to highlight their role in carrying out economic and social development and to activate integrated systems to increase sources of endowments in line with the Saudi Vision 2030.
The endowment conference is being organized by the private sector in cooperation with the endowment committee of the Makkah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) and the General Authority of Endowment, for which Minister of Labor and Social Development Mufrej Al-Haqabani is currently chairing the board of directors.
In terms of the agenda, the first day of the conference will address the role of endowments in the Saudi Vision 2030, and the role of the authority in achieving this vision.
On the second day, the participants will learn about the relationship between endowments and scientific development as well as about initiatives that embrace the varied talents in the Kingdom, and the role of using giveaways and donations to develop national education and e-learning programs.
The sessions will also explore the impact of jurisdiction and legislation on increasing endowments alongside the influence of growth within society. They will also address the role of donating premises to set up and operate health institutions, and ways to spread the culture of corporate social responsibility and endowments in the mass media.
The third day of the conference is set to focus on measuring the effects of endowments on various social indicators, and reviewing the future of endowments in serving pilgrims.
On the last day of the conference, the participants and endowment ministers will talk about financing formulas to run endowment projects through joint funds among stakeholders, as well as to pinpoint the most effective projects that will have the greatest impact on economic performance.
Among other dignitaries, the conference will host senior officials and ministers from Turkey, Kuwait, Sudan, Malaysia and Jordan.
