JEDDAH: A comprehensive security, rescue and traffic plan in Makkah is ensuring the city is safe and secure for pilgrims, according to Makkah police chief Maj. Gen. Said bin Salim Al-Qarni. The plan for visitors and worshippers was adopted by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif, deputy premier and interior minister, and overseen by Director of Public Security Othman Al-Mohrej, with the guidance and supervision of Director of Umrah Services and Makkah Police Director Lt. Abdulaziz bin Othman Al-Souli, he said.
Al-Qarni said the measures were put in place several weeks before Ramadan, with security officers deployed to all parts of the city. This includes the management of transport stations around the central area, which include Bab Ali, Shaab Amer, Al-Ghaza, Jaroul and Ajyad. A supervisory committee was overseeing this work, he was quoted as saying by a local publication.
