JEDDAH: A 27-year-old citizen shot his wife to death in the Al-Muntazahat area of Jeddah, following differences between them, and then surrendered to the security agencies.

Col. Atti bin Attiyah Al-Qarashi, spokesman of the Makkah police, said the security department in the Makkah region received information on Sunday about the incident. The accused has been handed over to the relevant authorities for investigation, he said.

This is the second such incident in the past two years in the same locality. A 50-year-old citizen had stabbed his wife and her father to death, following a quarrel. The incident happened near a shopping center on Al-Harmain Road.

Meanwhile, a Yemeni expatriate shot another Yemeni in the head due to previous differences between them, injuring him seriously.

Al-Qarashi said that security authorities in Makkah received information on Thursday about the incident. The 20-year-old victim was rushed to the hospital and is still in intensive care, he said..

Al-Qarashi said that the suspect, who is in his 30s, was arrested and handed over to the authorities concerned for prosecution.
