JEDDAH: Makkah police said Wednesday that a young man named Azzam Al-Sa’aedi was murdered by one of his relatives, who subsequently hid his body to cover up the crime.
Police had been on the look out for the man since his family reported him missing on March 22.
The accused has been taking into custody. He confessed to the crime and was referred to the Bureau of Investigation and Public Prosecution to complete the investigation procedure, police said.
Spokesman for Makkah police Col Atti Al-Qurashi said: “A citizen reported to Makkah police on 13/4/1437 that his son aged 17 years had been missing for some time."
"Investigation teams were sent to look for the missing man immediately upon receipt of the call, but it was not until later that they discovered the body and found the accused person, who was a Saudi citizen and family member aged in his thirties. The man confessed that he had killed the teen following a dispute between them.”
The father of the victim said that the arrested man is a close relative of his son and took him outside the city east of Makkah to lure him into sinful acts. When the teen refused and defended himself, he was stabbed and run over by the man's car. The accused carried the victim to an unknown area and burned his body.
