The Jamia Markaz of Kerala, which plays an important role in promoting Islamic education in the south Indian state of Kerala, will celebrate its 37th anniversary on Dec. 18 to 21.

A.P. Abubacker Musliyar, general secretary of All-India Muslim Scholars’ Association, launched a publicity campaign for the anniversary during a function in Riyadh.

Markaz intends to establish a Knowledge City in Calicut. A law college will be opened in the second week of next month as part of the project, said Abdul Hakeem Azhari, director of the project, which includes a Unani Medical College, an international school and professional colleges to provide education from LKG to university levels.

During the Riyadh function, Sheikh Mohammed Rafik, chairman of Gammon Group, was honored considering his remarkable role in strengthening Saudi-Indian business relations. Mohammed Koya, a prominent Indian industrialist, presented a memento to Rafik.

Prominent personalities, including ITL Group president P. Abubacker, Nesto Group director Nasser, Najeeb of Aliya Foods, Mohammed Ahmed of Oracle, Taqiyuddin Mir Faisal, secretary of Aligarh Muslim University Alumni, Muzaffar Ansari of King Faisal Foundation, and Ashraf Shah, Director of Business Development, Tasnee Group, MAR Saleem, Bazme UrduToastmasters club and Niaz Omar, chairman of the Indian School, delivered felicitation speeches.
