The Ministry of Labor is working with globally acclaimed experts to formulate national policy for occupational safety and health standards in Kingdom, Abdullah Abu Tinin, head of inspection divisions at the ministry, said.

“We have carried out studies in occupational safety in China, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Tunisa and many of other countries,” the official said.

“We are working closely with the Ministry of Health and other relevant authorities as par with International Labour Organization (ILO) norms, he said.

“The ministry is also working closely with Civil Defense authorities for orientation programs for its inspectors to understand the mechanism of occupational safety and health standards in various regions of Kingdom,” he added.

Saudi Arabia has witnessed a high number of occupational hazards. Last year, construction sector registered 36,367 cases of occupational hazards. This forms nearly half of total cases in the Kingdom.
