The Ministry of Education has denied any extension of official working hours to its employees after a number of social media outlets circulated news that the ministry had agreed to an extension of one hour to its normal working day for its employees, with the exemption of teachers in schools.

The ministry said that its employees are committed to the official working hours as applied in other government sectors. It commented that it had earlier issued a circular emphasizing the need for discipline and commitment to the attendance hours, as is the case in any ministry, and emphasised its employees diligence, attention and discipline, according to a recent announcement.

The ministry also noted that the inspection tours made by some authorities from outside the ministry with regards to staff timing monitoring conform to the standards of the civil service system, and fall within efforts to realize integration between governmental institutions.
