The Ministry of Commerce and Industry shuttered a warehouse in Al-Faisaliah district that was being used for storing 138,000 counterfeit consumer goods, including detergents and creams of famous brands.

The ministry confiscated the goods and called those involved for investigation and imposed statutory penalties on the counterfeiters.

The ministry said in a statement on Sunday that it closed down another warehouse that had stored expired food products in Al-Massania district in south Riyadh and found rain-damaged items were being repacked for distribution in local markets.

More than 6,000 food items seized included a variety of cheese and juices, biscuits, cakes, Indomie noodles, and other items.

The ministry said it would continue its oversight on the commercial and industrial sectors in all regions of the Kingdom to ensure there is no manipulation.

The ministry reiterated that those involved in the practice of fraud and putting the health and safety of consumers at risk, will be dealt with tough penalties. It asked the consumers to report their complaints and comments to the communications center by calling 1900.
