The Interior Ministry has taken precautionary measures to enhance security measures at children’s amusement parks after repeated incidents that claimed the lives of some children and injured others.

The ministry made nine recommendations after it became clear that the operation of such parks and the development of their services were not up to standard.

The recommendations included obliging amusement park operators to introduce awareness programs to the youngsters who use these services.

The ministry said the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs should make sure that the blacksmith workshops that manufacture such games are licensed and punish workshops that practice the profession without authorization.

The Interior Ministry asked for the speedy endorsement of such campaigns, which will check and inspect rides and games to insure their safety and detect any technical flaws that may endanger the lives of users.

The Civil Defense department should force the owners of amusement cities and parks to contract a company specializing in checking the games grant certificates for them ascertaining the safety of games in use. Safety inspectors at the Civil Defense Department have the right to immediately close down any amusement city or park, either temporarily or permanently if no such certificate exists.

The recommendations emphasized on the importance of applying the terms and conditions listed in the “list of general safety” and the safeguards to be provided at all children’s parks, public and amusement parks and cities.

These include having a safety specialist on the premises who is able to to supervise safety works, as well as provide awareness programs for users. Recommendations also demanded the Customs Department to prevent the import of used games and parts into the Kingdom.
