The Ministry of Health has started accepting applications for participation in the Gulf Award for Excellence in Health Journalism. Saudis and non-Saudis of all ages can apply.

Khalid Mirghalani, Health Ministry spokesman, said: "The aim of the award is to promote health through artistic or journalistic works that carry awareness messages, whether in print, audio, video or new media. All works created in 2014 or prior to this can be accepted, so long as they focus on this year's topic: 'fighting obesity'."

He added that the works should be delivered in one or more of seven categories: posters, social media accounts, short TV messages, short broadcasting messages, e-portals, e-sites and comprehensive media campaigns. Prizes of up to U$100,000 are up for grabs for the winning works.
