JEDDAH: The Interior Ministry announced on Saturday that the man who carried out the suicide bombing at the Special Emergency Forces Center Mosque in Asir on Thursday was a 21-year-old Saudi national.
He was identified as Yousef bin Sulaiman Abdullah Al-Sulaiman. The ministry also released his photo and gave his Islamic year of birth as 1415.
The ministry released the names and photos of the 15 martyrs, which included 11 Special Emergency Forces (SEF) officers and trainees and four Bangladeshi nationals who were employed at the center.
Five of the 11 Saudi victims were SEF personnel posted at the headquarters while six were trainees who had enrolled for Haj security duty.
“The blast caused injuries to 33 others,” said the ministry’s statement on SPA.
“The carnage was caused by a suicide bomber who blew himself up among worshippers who were saying their noon prayers,” said the statement.
The 11 Saudis who died in the blast were Ahmad Mousa Ali Al-Rabaie, Sultan Mohammed Ahmad Al-Shahrani, Abdullah Ahmad Abdullah Asiri, Mufreh Ali Ahmad Asiri, Ayed Matar Mubarak Al-Shahrani (all corporals), Abdullah Ayed Abdullah Al-Saad, Omar Ahmad Omar Asiri, Abdul Aziz Abdullah Yahya bin Mashraf, Falah Jaber Saad Al-Qahtani, Mishaal Ali Maghram Al-Asiri and Mamdouh Misfer Mohammed Al-Harthi (all trainee soldiers).
The four Bangladeshi victims were named as Mohammed Bilal Hussain Mohammed, Afzaluddin Noor Nabi, Madjabibun Abdul Hameed and Maqal Maridah. All of them were working at the site.
The ministry said the case is being followed up by the different security agencies.
It described the bombing as an act of cowardice. 
“That they (the terrorists) did not take into account the sanctity of the place and the innocent blood reflects their criminal deviant thoughts,” said the statement. 
“Such despicable acts will only bolster the determination of security forces and the honorable people of the Kingdom to confront the deviant thought and to defend the religion and the security and stability of this blessed country and its people.”
The statement ended with prayers for the 15 martyrs. 
“May Allah bless the souls of the martyrs and may He grant speedy recovery to the injured,” said the ministry.
