The Ministry of Labor has threatened violating recruitment companies with cancelation of their licenses for providing false information on its website “Musaned” ( www.musaned.gov.sa ) for recruitment services.

The ministry stated that all recruitment offices must publish genuine domestic workers’ information on “Musaned” for greater transparency and display the different options, including workers’ nationalities and professions.

The Ministry of Labor noted the existence of recruitment offices which publish false information of workers’ nationalities.

The companies had recorded some domestic workers from countries with whom the Kingdom has no agreement on the website. Besides, information of the workers’ nationalities, the companies are also required to publish the wages and the different professions for the benefit of citizens and residents seeking to employ them, according to local media.

The labor authorities have shut down 56 recruitment companies for irregularities. These companies did not display recruitment costs on “Musaned” which was recently launched to ensure employers and their workers’ rights. The site also shows all information of licensed recruitment offices and provides mechanisms for filing complaints and reporting disputes, displays samples of required documents including exit/re-entry visa and residency permit forms.

Meanwhile, Head of the Recruitment Committee in the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) Yehya Al-Maqboul told Arab News, “Not all countries are able to send domestic workers to the Kingdom.

There are some Asian countries like Indonesia which have not signed an agreement to send housemaids but there is an agreement for drivers.”

He added that there are other labor exporting countries such as Philippine, Sri Lanka and Vietnam which have agreements with Saudi Arabia to send domestic workers to work in the country. “The official regulation is clear and recruitment offices need to follow it carefully,” he said.

The Labor ministry’s website has listed new countries where domestic workers can be hired including China, Chile, Algeria, Tunisia, Sudan, Egypt, Mauritania, Yemen, Somalia and Tanzania.
