Prince Sultan bin Salman, president of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA), opened a mosque in Fez, Morocco, which was reconstructed with Prince Sultan's support in the memory of his late mother.

An SCTA official said on Thursday that Prince Sultan opened the Bab Al-Ajeesah mosque in Fez and prayed there at the mosque after breaking his fast.

The mosque was built in the late 16th century and spans an area of 11,300 sqm.

Funds for restoration were provided by the SCTA chief and restoration works were supervised by the Moroccan Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs with the support of a heritage installations company from the Kingdom and an Agency for International Development and Rehabilitation in Fez.

Morocco shares very cordial relations with Saudi Arabia.

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah recently returned from Morocco following a private visit to the North African country.

Morocco has become Saudi Arabia’s sixth largest trading partner, while the Kingdom is the third largest foreign investor in Morocco.
