A mentally disturbed man has stabbed a mosque imam inside the mosque in Wadi Dawasir Province and fled the scene shortly after, sabq.com online paper has reported.

The 70-year-old imam received stab wounds caused by a sharp tool being forced onto his shoulder as soon as he finished Asr Prayer, the paper said.

A manhunt has been launched to track down the assailant.

In a related development, a citizen has killed two persons, one being his brother, in a farm located in Mirah county, Ahsa Province, according to a local daily. The man, in his fifties, used a machine gun to target his victims, the paper said, quoting the spokesman for Eastern Province police, Ziyad Al-Ruqaiti.
