The mother of Arab News freelance contributor Fouzia Khan passed away on Friday in a car accident.

Kishwar Sultana, 67, died instantly when the four-wheel-drive vehicle she was traveling in with her husband had an accident. They were traveling back to Jeddah from Madinah after Friday prayers.

The woman’s husband Kamyab Khan, and his son Naeem Khan, escaped unhurt. Naeem’s six children were also unhurt but his wife sustained serious injuries and is being treated at a Madinah hospital.

“Fouzia is distraught and unable to speak,” said her husband Tanweer Zaman.

“The family was coming back to Jeddah after performing Friday prayers. We don’t know what happened exactly but Fouzia’s mother died instantly,” he said.

He asked well-wishers to pray for the departed soul.
