A Saudi man has been arrested for stabbing to death a muadin in Aljmom Province, north of Makkah, according to a report in an online publication.

Lt. Col Ati bin Attiya Al-Qurashi, spokesman of Makkah police, said that the 34-year-old victim had an argument with the 45-year-old assailant the previous night. The muadin had apparently told the assailant that he stood in an “inappropriate place.”

The man had stabbed the muadin in his chest and heart while he was walking down a narrow street in the province. The man died on the spot, the report said.

In a related development, a 75-year-old muezzin in Riyadh's Shifa district was stabbed by an unidentified man with a knife, resulting in severe wounds to his neck. The man stabbed the preacher as he was sitting reading the Qur’an after Dhuhr prayer.
