Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Mohammed Yousaf called on Muslim World League (MWL) Secretary-General Abdullah Abdul Moshsin Al-Turki in his office in Makkah on Tuesday and congratulated him for successfully holding the anti-terrorism conference in Makkah.

He said that it was the most opportune time to hold the conference and to stand firm with unanimity and undeterred will on the prevalent scenario of terrorism, which has afflicted the Muslim world.

Yousaf also conveyed messages of felicitations from President Mamnoon Hussain, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the people of Pakistan to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, Crown Prince Muqrin, Deputy Crown Prince and Interior Minister Prince Mohammed bin Naif for organizing this much needed conference to dilate upon the menace of terrorism, which is not only tarnishing the egalitarian image of Islam but has stunted the growth of social and economic progress of the comity of Muslim nations.

The minister informed the secretary-general that the government of Pakistan has launched its national action plan to root out the existential threat of terrorism. The political leadership and security agencies with army in the forefront are determined to fight this evil. Despite colossal losses of innocent lives and properties, the people of Pakistan will defeat this monster, he added.

The MWL secretary-general reciprocating the greetings of Pakistani leadership, thanked the minister for attending the conference. He also condemned the horrendous attack on Army Public School in Peshawar on Dec. 16, 2014, which has reinforced the commitment and determination of whole Ummah to defeat terrorists.

Al-Turki also suggested convening an anti-terrorism conference in Pakistan and MWL will extend full assistance. The minister appreciated the proposal and agreed to hold such a conference in the near future.

Al-Turki said that terrorism and the extremist mindset pose a major challenge to a range of fundamental human rights and freedom, including the rights to life and security, the freedom of expression, assembly and association, and the freedom of religion.

He also appreciated the efforts of Pakistan in its fight against terrorism and its role as a front-line state in the comity of nations, which has suffered a lot.
