JEDDAH: The new Commission for Job Generation and Anti-Unemployment would create jobs in the country for young people, according to Labor Minister Mufrej Al-Haqabani.

The body, which is to be linked to the Council of Economic and Development Affairs, was approved by the Cabinet recently.

Al-Haqabani said the fact that it would be linked directly to Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman would allow it to ensure more effective coordination between projects run by the public and private sectors. The public sector does not have the capacity to absorb young Saudi jobseekers entering the market every year, so it was necessary to ensure they can be absorbed by the private sector, Al-Haqabani was quoted as saying by a local publication.

The Council of Economic and Development Affairs, was set up on Feb. 9 this year and includes the justice, petroleum, finance, water and electricity, labor, housing, Haj, economy and planning, transport, communications, health, agriculture, civil service, education and other ministries.
