DAMMAM: A period of 20 months will be granted to deliver residential apartments for beneficiaries in the Eastern Province, starting from the day of delivering land to developers, and not from the date of signing the contract with them, according to a source in the Ministry of Housing.

The source said that this procedure will avoid many problems for all parties, in case of delay in delivering land from infrastructure developers.

He said that delivering apartments to beneficiaries will be done according to the conditions agreed upon by the ministry and real estate developers.

While the housing exhibition continues to receive beneficiaries in its last week before Eid Al-Fitr, sources expect turnout to be low this week because of the approaching final 10 days of Ramadan.

The sources, however, expect the turnout to be high after the Eid holiday, saying many exhibits will run out if the policy of receiving beneficiaries’ changes.

Procedures are completed through the ministry's housing portal. Beneficiaries fill in the application and bring the necessary documents to the exhibition to be approved.

Abdulhakim Al-Ammar, chairman of the board for the infrastructure of the project in Eastern Province, said the company signed a contract with the Ministry of Housing to implement the infrastructure within 22 months (next October), but the company will deliver the first phase of the project after one month, and the completed project after three months, according to the contract.

He noted that the company got a six-month extension from the relevant authorities after it found some illegal occupation at the location. Relevant authorities removed the encroachments and the company and other companies that were awarded the tender to develop the infrastructure of the project are now working to their full potential to deliver the project before the deadline.
