DAMMAM: The General Authority for Civil Aviation (GACA) is currently planning to attract investments that will promote commercial traffic at King Fahd International Airport (KFIA) in Dammam, said Suleiman bin Abdullah Al-Hamdan, GACA chairman.

During an honoring ceremony held by businessmen in the Eastern Province (EP), Al-Hamdan reviewed the most important achievements in the civil aviation industry in recent years, assuring that the management plans to promote the civil aviation industry with its new concept and the vision of the wise leadership.

He said: “The KFIA will witness in the coming years a little rapid growth in both air and commercial traffic, through the opening of the new five-star hotel over the next year and new vehicle fuel station, in addition to the establishment of the airport gate and many other projects that will be announced later.”

The KFIA management has recently attracted many investments to advance the commercial airport, which will be unveiled in the coming months, he said, confirming that the airport has achieved unprecedented growth in air traffic during 2014.

Al-Hamdan said that KFIA management will do its best to attract new airlines serving the region at the regional and international levels for the advancement of the airport in accordance with the aspirations of EP residents and citizens.

Moreover, he thanked the Eastern Province Gov. Prince Saud bin Naif for his ongoing support and promotion of EP airports.

The event was attended by GACA deputy chairman, Faisal bin Hamad Al-Sugair, and chairman assistant of corporate communications and marketing, Wael Al-Sarhan, as well as the KFIA general manager, Yousef Al-Dhahri, and a number of EP businessmen.
