Khalid Al-Mezel, general director of the King Fahd International Airport, opened a travelers’ rights program, which comes within the executive list of protecting consumer rights.

Mazen Ahmad Bazahir, head of Guidance and Coordination in the Department of Consumer Rights Protections in Civil Aviation, said King Fahd International Airport is a pioneer in travelers’ rights and duties programs. He said he expects other international airports will soon follow.

The culture of travelers’ rights among all airline passengers is on the condition that the implementation of the program will be according to the policies of the Consumer Protection Committee in the Civil Aviation Authority.

The committee will receive travelers’ complaints by an e-mail that has been especially created for travelers or through direct communication with the on-call airport managers. Bazahir pointed out the number of travelers’ complaints have declined.

Al-Mezel said the launching of this program aims to improve the services of the airport. It explains to travelers their rights and duties which should be clearly understood.

He added the management has created a special e-mail and a direct phone number to receive travelers’ complaints. It also distributed pamphlets to travelers.
