Social activist and director of the Made by Hand Foundation, Moodhi Al-Da’rami, has been successfully running a project that has supported more than 33 families in the province of Bisha. She said, demand has increased tremendously across the Kingdom for many of the traditional products produced by the productive families of Bisha, including incense, perfumes, coffee, spices, and dates.

Since the idea of supporting these families emerged less than two years ago, Al-Da’rami said she has worked very hard to make these products available to everyone throughout the Kingdom. In addition to facilitating their participation in all festivals in the Kingdom, the Prince of Asir has also provided support for the first civil foundation to support productive families in Asir, she said.

Most of the participants in the project are housewives, as well as high school and college graduates, and each participant makes different products. Participants first took part in the Tourism Committee Festival last year, and participated this year again on behalf of the foundation. Participants achieved substantial economic returns amounting to more than SR250,000, she said.

The Made by Hand Foundation is a community-based non-profit organization that aims to support productive families in developing and marketing their products through participation in national festivals, explained Al-Da’rami.

She said the Foundation is also striving to transform Bisha into a distinct region in terms of traditional industries, as also on the development of society by supporting active participation, increased effectiveness of services, and coordination between ministries, institutions, and productive families.
