Hamda Al-Enzi, a Shoura Council member, said the committee in charge of issuing new regulations on harassment will complete its task by the end of the month.

She confirmed that another draft regarding extortion will be issued at the same time, since the committee in charge will look into the crimes of harassment, extortion and human trafficking. The committee will combine the three crimes in a single bill to define the terms related along with the respective actions and sanctions.

Explaining that the law against harassment was proposed sometime ago to the council, Al-Enzi said that it was included in its agenda shortly after the proposal.

The request of the Royal Court to add the other two issues, extortion and human trafficking, has delayed its issuance, she added.

According to the council woman, the members in charge of studying the system are working hard to harmonize its content, draft the terms involved, add new provisions or amend existing articles.

The draft of the anti-sexual harassment and extortion for both sexes bill, introduced by some members in accordance with Article 23 of the Shoura system, is under discussion by the committee on social, family and youth Affairs.
