The Jeddah Municipality’s branch in the Al-Jamaa district is currently carrying out campaigns to end the ongoing labor situation under the bridge at the Kilo 8 area, where many female workers and unlicensed salesmen have set up stalls haphazardly.

The campaigns have led to 35 workshops being shut down for violating regulations and for failure to renew licenses as per the regulations and instructions distributed before the campaign.

Heavy equipment machinery and 255 trucks were also removed from the area for failing to comply with regulations.

Jeddah municipality workers cleaned out the location, lifting 6,500 tons of debris from around the workshops, and penalized the offending workshops.

The municipality is also currently cutting off electricity from the workshops, which were given orders to be vacated with immediate effect.

Meanwhile, inspection teams have cleared out the area under the bridge after removing all the violating workers. The municipality is coordinating with construction companies and the General Administration of Roads to develop the area under the bridge and pave all the surrounding roads.
