The Ministry of Interior’s National Information Center (NIC) recently won the GCC e-government and e-services excellence award for its successful feats in the field of social networking.

“The NIC won the e-government and e-services excellence award in the field of social networking, which was granted by the Middle East Excellence Awards Institute,” said an official at the Ministry of Interior on Sunday.

Col. Saleh bin Ahmed Al-Fayez received the award on behalf of the NIC, during the sidelines of the 20th GCC e-government and e-services conference held in Dubai.

The NIC provides IT solutions and services to the ministries and governmental sectors across the Kingdom and has successfully applied modern solutions and advanced networks with high efficiency.

The center has many branches spanning across the Kingdom, making it one of the largest IT centers in the Middle East.

The NIC was formerly known as the “Computer Center” three decades ago and was later renamed as the “General Administration of Central Information.”

A decision issued by the Supreme Committee for Administrative Reform in the early 1980s finally changed the organization’s name to the National Information Center (NIC). Under the former Interior Minister Prince Naif, the center witnessed unprecedented expansion and transformation.
