The Ministry of Education has banned counselors and teachers of physical education and art from conducting evening tutorials for adult students citing poor performance of the teachers as reason for the ruling.

The directives came under the conditions which govern the nomination of school principals and teachers who wish to teach classes for adults. The conditions also include that the teacher should have spent more than three years in the profession and is still on the job.

The ministry’s circular explained that school principals will also be subject to the same criteria as teachers while those who withdraw from the job for any reason will be excluded from being nominated for a period of five years from the date of withdrawal. The ministry said that the deadline to receive applications was until the end of this month. It has also allowed teachers of first graders to teach outside the Kingdom.
