JEDDAH: In a horrific road accident, nine people died and 34 were injured after the overloaded Dyna truck they were traveling in plunged from a bridge along Al-Mujamma-Kuwait road.

The vehicle, carrying 43 laborers, was owned by a sanitation company.

When the Civil Defense team reached the Thursday’s crash site, 9 people were already dead. The injured were transported to King Khaled Hospital.

In another accident, a citizen died on the spot after his car fell 200 meters into a rocky gorge near the new King Abdullah barricade in Asir. A Civil Defense ambulance transported his body to Al-Namas Hospital.

As soon as the Asir Civil Defense received the information at 12:11 a.m., it dispatched two rescue teams.

The Saudi, in his early 20s, was driving a Hilux truck. He was found 100 meters away from the debris of the vehicle. He died due to extensive trauma sustained in the crash.
