A fire was put out on a plot of empty land in Jeddah’s eastern industrial zone on Monday morning, said Col. Saeed Sarhan, Civil Defense media spokesman in Makkah.

The fire, which broke out among a cluster of dumpsters, was prevented from spreading to neighboring areas, including industrial locations west of the scene, he said.

“Heavy equipment was used to put in place sand barricades to shield the fire. Firefighters are still working to put out the fire and will remain at the scene until they are sure that temperatures have cooled and no other waste containers are at risk of reigniting,” the spokesman said.
