ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE: President Barack Obama will meet with Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, on Friday and the two are expected to discuss conflicts in the Middle East including the campaign against Daesh terrorists, the White House said on Thursday.
Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed, who is also scond deputy premier and defense minister, is on a visit to the United States aimed at strengthen relations with Washington and to promote a plan to slash the kingdom’s dependence on oil revenues.
Friday’s meeting will take place at the White House.
The deputy crown prince has already met with members of Congress as well as Secretary of State John Kerry. White House spokesman Eric Schultz tells reporters aboard Air Force One he’ll also meet with Defense Secretary Ash Carter.
The visit also comes after the Senate passed legislation that would allow families of Sept. 11 victims to sue the Saudi government, despite Saudi objections. The bill sets Congress on a collision course with the Obama administration.
