An operetta entitled “Sinbad sails to the Gulf” will be shown on the Saudi Channel Sella and Al-Danah on Thursday at 8 p.m, and will run for 48 minutes with the operetta writer, Mohsin Shaikh Al-Hassan, as host on the program.

“The operetta will be shown on TV in conjunction with the 22nd Arabian Gulf Cup in the Saudi capital,” said Al-Hassan, who is also well-known as an Islamic scholar and writer.

The title was taken from “Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas,” a 2003 American animated fantasy film.

Al-Hassan said that the song for the operetta was composed by artist Khaled Khamis from Al-Ahsa in the Eastern Province.

He noted there are 15 dancers in the operetta who accompany the songs. Recently, the team of performers rented a boat and travelled across Gulf countries participating in the Gulf Cup tournament.

“We began travelling four months ago. We went first to the United Arab Emirates, which won the Gulf Cup two years ago,” he said. The team then proceeded to Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, and Qatar, before returning to Saudi Arabia.

He added that the dancers wore the traditional clothing of the country they were visiting when performing.
