He is like many 22-year-olds, with hopes and dreams to study, make a good living and help his family.

But Ibrahim Ali is different from most other young men, he has various disabilities, making it difficult to walk, speak and hear. In addition, he lost his father in a traffic accident when he was a baby, and was raised by his mother and grandmother from his father’s side in the neighborhood of Hindawiya south of Jeddah.

While he has had to face all these challenges, Ali remains optimistic and cheerful, mixing with neighbors and friends, and trying to express himself as best he can.

In an interview with Arab News, Ali explained, in often faltering speech, that he wishes he could have experienced the love of his father. He was his father's only son, and cannot recall seeing him.

He said his family showers him with attention, so he does not lack love. However, he wants to study like many of his friends but unfortunately does not have any money to pay for tuition or transport.

“I wish philanthropists could help me and my mother, to get us out of this bad situation in which we've lived for such a long time,” he said. “We would like to have a large house, one that could protect us from the summer heat. And a car to take our family where we want to go."

He hopes that the government could spend more money to help those with disabilities in the country.
