JEDDAH: Relatives of the 23-year-old student on scholarship, Rayan Ibrahim, who died near the premises of Wichita State University (WSU) in Kansas, in the US last Saturday as a result of four gunshots, said that Rayan was killed after he went to collect money his father sent him.

The family said this prior to his burial at Al-Mualla cemetery, where a large number of people had gathered after dawn prayers at the Grand Mosque prior to Rayan’s burial at Al-Mualla cemetery.

Rayan’s father was quoted as saying to local media that his son was studying engineering at WSU.

“My son was waiting for the money I sent him to buy his monthly needs. He took the money from the ATM but two people were watching him, and after they robbed him they shot him four times and he fell near the Fairmount Towers parking lot on the WSU campus.”

His family said their son fell bleeding on the street and was taken to hospital where he died.

Grieving for his son, the father and family members said Rayan was a very good young man with high morals and ethics.

American authorities later arrested two suspects in connection to the fatal shooting of Rayan, confirming that the shooting was not random.

The two suspects, 23-year-old Isaiah Copridge and 19-year-old Eboni Final were arrested and police ruled out any political or racist reasons for the killing, saying the crime was done for robbery or personal disputes.
