Pakistan’s Consul General Aftab Khokhar has appealed to the Pakistani community, particularly undocumented workers who want to return home, not to get involved in illegal activities and riots.

Khokhar said the Pakistani government was cooperating with the Saudi authorities in rectifying the legal status of is expatriates, and added that it had requested the Saudi government to increase the time period for finger-printing and other formalities to be completed.

Khokhar was speaking at a reception in honor of Kharlzada Kasrat Rai, the Pakistani who walked his way to Saudi Arabia with a mission to promote global peace.

Khokhar also urged his countrymen to respect the laws of Saudi Arabia and stay calm in the wake of the ongoing police raids to apprehend undocumented workers. The Pakistan consulate was working closely with the Saudi government to complete the process of finger-printing of illegal workers who want to return home, he said.

Khokhar once again congratulated Rai on the completion of his peace mission and performing Haj. Rai started his walk for global peace from Karachi on June 7 and completed it on Oct. 1 in Makkah and was warmly received by Saudi, Pakistani and other expat communities.

The consul general said it was a proud moment for Pakistan. “The main aim of his walk was to spread the message of peace, and we are with him on this since this is the message of Islam and the Muslim Ummah, and the goal of the Pakistani government,” he said.

He thanked the Saudi Ministry of Culture and Information, the government and the Youth Welfare Association for helping in arranging facilities and visa for Rai in completing his mission and allowing him to perform Haj. He also thanked journalists for the coverage of the mission.

Rai thanked the Saudi government and Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah, Pakistan Foreign Affairs Ministry and the Pakistan consul general for helping him facilitate his walk peacefully.

“Relations between Pakistan and Saudi have always been strong and the involvement of Saudi nationals in my peace walk showed that the Kingdom wants peace and security in the world. The objective behind this “Walk for Global Peace” was to sow the seed of global unity among all nations and for the better future, global solidarity and peace,” said Rai.
